\nForget regret or life is yours to miss
\nNo other road, no other way
\nNo day but today….<\/em><\/p>\n

The hardest thing is that life goes on. Life just keeps going , not caring that one more person is gone, that one more bright glimmer has moved on to elsewhere. Wherever elsewhere is.<\/p>\n

It drives home that you have to take advantage of every day that you have, because you never know what\u2019s going to happen tomorrow. If you spend your whole life avoiding risk it\u2019s not a guarantee that you\u2019re going to be happy, \u2018safe\u2019 is not necessarily happy, \u2018safe\u2019 is not always right. You could do everything \u2018right\u2019, have the right job, the right spouse, the picket fence and the two and a half kids, and still walk out the morning and get hit by a bus. Either in the literal or the symbolic sense.<\/p>\n

I had a choice earlier this year, I could turn my life inside out and upside down, I could put on the line everything I thought about myself and several things that other people thought about me \u2013 or I could keep playing it safe, live in the box, between the lines, and not take the risk. I chose to take the chance, and despite the roller-coaster of emotions I\u2019ve been on since then, the choice pays off every day, despite the confusion it sometimes puts me through.<\/p>\n

The more I learn the more I come to think that we have little choice as to our own fate. Not that I believe that there is some great master plan in which every step we take is mapped out for us and we are merely puppets in some divine play. No, I don\u2019t think she works like that. But I think certain things, certain people, certain Signposts, are meant to be. There are certain people we are meant to meet, meant to love, meant to weep for. You can meet them in joyous circumstances or painful ones, but you will <\/em>meet them. Because you\u2019ll be meant to. The trick is to enjoy the moment. Enjoy the little things, have faith that you will<\/em> end up where you\u2019re supposed to be, and if you allow it, where you end up will be beautiful.<\/p>\n

There really is only \u2018us\u2019, and there really is only \u2018this\u2019<\/p>\n

Regret is a useless emotion, it causes nothing but pain. You cannot change the past. You can mourn someone\u2019s passing, but you cannot change it, you cannot undo it. Funerals are not for the dead, they are for the living, so that we may gain closure and move on \u2013 too many people forget that part, and forget to allow themselves to have closure.<\/p>\n
