In the shuffle of departure it occurred to me only this morning that the day before yesterday marked my second anniversary as a ship girl.<\/p>\n

Where has the time gone indeed?<\/p>\n

There is a lot that I would like to say, but in truth this past two years has been such a blur, and so much of me has changed that I wouldn\u2019t even know where to start. I don\u2019t know if I ever even expected to stay with this for two years, I certainly didn\u2019t intend to end up on the flagship, didn\u2019t aim to be part of such an amazing team \u2013 I was just a girl who was lost, with no idea of where she was going and far too many memories of where she\u2019d been.<\/p>\n

Since then I\u2019ve\u2026become a lot of things. Changed a lot of things\u2026and perhaps in another year I\u2019ll reexamine things again and decide that it\u2019s time to hang up the gypsy-sails, just like it was once time to hang up the dance training (for a while anyway)\u2026.the one thing I did promise myself at the end of last year is that I would<\/em> re-examine my life once in a while and decide whether or not I was still where I wanted to be. If there\u2019s one thing I\u2019ve learned, it\u2019s that \u2018settling\u2019 should never be an option.<\/p>\n

How do you measure a year? I find it\u2019s best to do it in the way the song says\u2026measure in love.<\/p>\n

And despite the ups, downs, pain and extreme confusion of this year\u2026there has been a helluva lot of love.<\/p>\n
