But I will admit it&#8217;s pretty nice when the company puts you up in an incrediby swank hotel that&#8217;s actually in the airport, and actually has a pool&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>And you can spend the evening watching all those planes taking off to all those places&#8230;far away places with strange sounding names&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>This is always the oddest night for me, the night before a contract starts, when I am suspended between one life and the other&#8230;hovering on the borderline, neither ship-side nor shore-side. I often think that things that happen on this night don&#8217;t really happen at all..they exist in some kind of dreamworld in between the bright shards of reality..<\/p>\n<p>And tomorrow&#8230;alaska&#8230;and work&#8230;and my other Family&#8230;.all call&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>And so it starts again&#8230;every time the same, though every time different.
