{"id":1412,"date":"2012-05-27T22:47:42","date_gmt":"2012-05-28T06:47:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bloodinyoursaltwater.wordpress.com\/?p=1412"},"modified":"2012-05-27T22:47:42","modified_gmt":"2012-05-28T06:47:42","slug":"parting-of-the-ways-at-sea-05272012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bloodinyoursaltwater.com\/?p=1412","title":{"rendered":"Parting of the Ways \u2013 At Sea \u2013 [05\/27\/2012]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/bloodinyoursaltwater.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/05\/shared.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-1414\" title=\"shared\" src=\"http:\/\/bloodinyoursaltwater.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/05\/shared.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"237\" \/><\/a>You were my strength when I was weak<br \/>\nYou were my voice when I couldn\u2019t speak<br \/>\nI lost my will you gave it back to me<br \/>\nYou saw the best there was in me\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p>What feels like a long time ago, I sat stage right in a vista class showroom watching the final night of the production cast, and my Sister came out from her customary place back stage and rested her hand on my shoulder and said without words how much she was going to miss me. I didn\u2019t look at her, just reached back and placed my hand over hers, because if I looked at her I knew I would cry.<\/p>\n<p>It would be nearly two years before I would see her again. And when I did, everything would change.<\/p>\n<p>My Sister and I have since taken different paths, hers led to happiness away from ships, and \u2013 much to my sorrow \u00a0and sometime confusion \u2013 away from me, but I never forgot that silent moment of farewell. And as I sat watching the show last night, in the same seat (all the showrooms from ship to ship are identical) I still looked to the right by habit, looking for someone who wasn\u2019t there, and who probably never will be again.<\/p>\n<p>She was the Sister who came to my life late, and walked out of my life earlier than either of us expected\u2026<\/p>\n<p><em>We\u2019ll be friends forever right?<br \/>\nRight!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Forever? That\u2019s a long long time chil\u2019 and time\u2026well she has a way of changin\u2019 things\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Sometimes people, no matter how close, simply separate once their purpose in each other\u2019s life has been fulfilled \u2013 Saerwan gave me a great gift, I like to think that I returned it in kind, at least partially, and I wouldn\u2019t be the same had I not known her. It hurt a great deal at first, losing a Family member is never easy, the Pack is small, and we\u2019re protective of our connections\u2026but these kinds of things lessen over time, and I think of her now like I do of a fond childhood friend, with affection and kindness, and hope that \u2013 wherever her life takes her \u2013 she ends up as happy as she deserves to be. I hope that, wherever she is, she knows that I still miss her.<\/p>\n<p>And I\u2019m glad that, whatever may have happened afterwards, our final memories \u2013 at least on my part \u2013 are good ones.
