This has long been my best friend\u2019s favourite quote about me<\/em>, as I have a tendency to…ramp up rather high emotions wise….but in this case that\u2019s not what I\u2019m referring to. Sometimes, the drama on this ship just flies off the scale \u2013 and well, goes to 11.<\/p>\n

For example, Head Office dictates a room change. Fine, no problem. Royal pain, but no problem. These things happen. But when you get to the room and find that it\u2019s a class of cabin that you are contractually not allowed to have? Big problem. This then leads to a four hour scrimmage to try to find <\/em>you a room that you are actually allowed to be in, which gets dozens of people extremely upset and confused \u2013 including you and ends up with you in a totally different place than you started. Plus you\u2019ve spent the bulk of your morning sitting in the entertainment office bugging your Event Manager because you simply have nowhere else to go.<\/p>\n

This then, was my morning.<\/p>\n

At least as of now I have somewhere to lay my head for the night, but no one is quite sure how long that\u2019s going to last or if they\u2019re going to have to shuffle us around again. Also, at the moment I don\u2019t have a roommate, not because I wasn\u2019t supposed to have one \u2013 I actually was \u2013 but because the YPC who is supposed to be bunking with me has gotten stuck at the airport in Dallas! When she did arrive, they ended up putting her in a separate room, and leaving me in the room I was in by myself. The jury is still out as to whether or not I will be staying there for more than a few days, but until someone officially tells me to move, I\u2019m just keeping my head low and staying where I am.<\/p>\n

My embroidery is already packed, resting in its beaten-up plastic case tucked into the corner of my new carry-on (bright pink, with a dark pink floral pattern, I know, I know, how girly what can I say, it was on sale) \u2013 so I once again turn to the written word. Once again, not mine. Weeks ago Gabrielle sent me a box of books, I\u2019m ashamed to say I never had time to read most of them ,but now I\u2019ve picked one up and fallen into its pages.<\/p>\n

Ocean stood knee deep in the future…<\/em><\/p>\n

How true indeed.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve always tossed around the phrase of \u201ccarrying your home in two suitcases and a carry-on\u201d, but every so often I really am handed a moment that drives home just how very true that is. It took me one day to pack my old cabin up, and I realized, looking at the duffel bag that carries my bedding, the hard-back suitcase that carries everything else, and the bright pink carry-on that holds the personal stuff…that I really have<\/em> gotten just that good at packing up my life.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not really quite sure how I feel about that realization.<\/p>\n

Especially since, nowhere in that portable home of mine, can I find that missing seal skin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
