So sayeth a wise (though she didn\u2019t realize it at the time) co-worker of mine on my last contract.<\/p>\n

Sometimes it disturbs me a bit how at home I feel out here. I always joke that the ship has started to feel more like home than home does, but in some ways that\u2019s not really a joke. Not that I don\u2019t feel welcome at home, or \u201cat home\u201d at home, it\u2019s not that, it\u2019s something…different. While there are ways in which life out here is extremely complicated, there are many ways in which it is very simple: you get up in the morning, you do your job, you go home and relax for the rest of the evening.<\/p>\n

Since we\u2019ve still got a long stretch of sea days ahead of us, my evenings have consisted of watching Charmed and attempting to fight off my usual early-contract case of sea-sickness. It would seem that I\u2019m being consistently plagued with queasiness my first few days on the flagship, I blame it on the fact that we always have to take the crossing from the states to Asia, and that never seems to run as smoothly as I hope it will. At least not waves wise.<\/p>\n

Job wise, this contract couldn\u2019t be going any smoother, about the only thing that would make it any better would be to have Hunt or Gabrielle on board, but one can\u2019t have everything and I refuse to look the gift horse of my circumstances in the mouth! And trust me; landing in a passenger cabin is definitely a gift horse.<\/p>\n

After a few days of hard slog, my co-librarian and I have managed to get the office back up to standard. There must have been a gap between my last official replacement (who was brilliant) and when my current partner and I arrived, because the place was a bit of a mess. I\u2019ve seen worse, but I\u2019ve also certainly seen better. It took us several hours each to tear apart each section and realphabatize it, and don\u2019t get me started on the storage closet, but thankfully all that is behind us now.<\/p>\n

And ahead of us? Well, to live is an awfully big adventure….<\/p>\n
