\"Courtesans_Venetian\"<\/a>Venice lies out around us like a high class lady under a satin sheet of fog. This is our last time seeing her this season, and my last time for I don\u2019t know how long since I\u2019m not going to be on this run again for quite some time. I\u2019m more than a little sad about that, as I\u2019ve fallen in love with this itinerary. I love the flagship, and I love the world cruise, but the only downside about it is that we just don\u2019t spend much time in Europe \u2013 focusing more on Asia and further flung places. I doubt very much the flagship will be calling in Venice any time soon.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately since Shadow has at long last departed, I couldn\u2019t get off the ship yesterday to say goodbye to the city properly. Instead I had to be content with the occasional glance out the window as I bustled about the business of embarkation day. Amras always laughs at me on embark day, saying I look more like a well-dressed solider going to battle than anything \u2013 but hey, I work a heckuva crowded day on embark, and have to be about six places at once, that means moving fast and focused or you get waylaid along the way.<\/p>\n

I had intended to go out last night, to see San Marco by starlight and stand between the pillars where the executions once took place. I had wanted to say my farewells quietly \u2013 but as is so often the case out here, circumstances got in the way and such things will have to wait for another time.<\/p>\n

Tonight will be our final Venician masquerade of the season; so I will once again lace myself into my confection of gold satin and lace and stumble my way through the necessary waltz. This time hopefully I won\u2019t accidently lace the thing so tightly that I nearly pass out by the end of the evening! Thankfully though Amras\u2019 band isn\u2019t playing the ball tonight, they\u2019re backing the show instead \u2013 which means an early night for the groupie no matter how pretty she looks. Trust me, this is a good thing.<\/p>\n
