Certainly not unhappy \u2013 far from it, just pure exhausted. Crossings are a lot of work and they mean a lot of hours, which means that most afternoons find me curled up in bed somewhat dead to the world.\u00a0 That was pretty much my plan for the day today as well, until my roomie came in and said there was a beach suitable for swimming about a five minute walk from the ship.<\/p>\n<p><i>That\u2026may do me so<\/i><i>me good.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>It had been months since I\u2019d been up to my neck in salt water. The Caribbean is coming, and that will mean I\u2019ll be able to basically walk off the ship and <i>into<\/i> the ocean, but this for now was close enough. The water was cold \u2013 but I\u2019m Canadian, and once I\u2019ve been in the water for a little while the chill wears off. Water balances, water cleanses, water <i>fixes. <\/i>Every wave took away the tension in my shoulders, and all the little aches and pains (emotional and physical) that had built up over the course of the contract just\u2026dissipated.<\/p>\n<p>Yes please, I\u2019ll take a battery recharge.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sometimes I forget just how much I need the water.
