\"packing\"<\/a>Slowly but surely I\u2019m collapsing my little portable home back in on itself. Packing has been surprisingly easy this contract, there\u2019s not much left in my closet anymore except the basics (a couple of uniform shirts, my bathing suit and beach stuff since we still have one more call at Half Moon Cay and the various toiletries that always get packed last). I started packing very early in the week, the idea being that that way a) I have time to get it all done and b) the necessity of it interferes less with my enjoyment of what\u2019s left of my time on board.<\/p>\n

Which ain\u2019t much.<\/p>\n

I was handed the crisp white print out containing my flight details (and Amras\u2019 as well actually, our supervisor finds it amusing that we leave on the same day though I\u2019m not sure why it strikes her as funny). Once again they\u2019re flying me home the roundabout way, FLL to DFW and then onto Vancouver and finally home. I\u2019ll touchdown in Victoria sometime after ten pm on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n

To be honest, I\u2019m trying not to think about the whole thing. It\u2019s been years since I\u2019ve been genuinely regretful to leave a contract; not since my very first one have I felt anything but genuine relief to be able to get home to a view that doesn\u2019t change and a floor that doesn\u2019t move. This one is different, and I\u2019ve already warned my parents that it will likely be waterfalls when I return for the first few days. Sometimes you just don\u2019t want to go.<\/p>\n

But for the most part it\u2019s all wrapped up here anyway. I finished my handover notes last night, put the last order in to the printer this morning \u2013 all that\u2019s left for me to do is enjoy my last couple of days, get my evaluation, and then hand over my keys.<\/p>\n
