There are so many changes coming in on the flagship, that I\u2019ll admit a part of me is terrified. Not the least change is that we\u2019re working with a new cruise director, not brand new of course, I\u2019ve worked with him before for the Grand Voyages, but he\u2019s new to doing the World Cruise. This wouldn\u2019t seem like such a big deal until you realize the World Cruise has been run by the same cruise director for at least a decade\u2026shifting to someone else\u2019s management system will be\u2026interesting.<\/p>\n<p>This holiday has gone so fast, I feel like I\u2019ve barely unpacked before I\u2019m packing again. In fact one of my bags I didn\u2019t even <i>bother<\/i> unpacking because all it had in it was my cabin d\u00e9cor, the only thing in there that needed laundering was my sheets, which \u2013 once they\u2019d been zipped through the washing machine \u2013 went right back into their allotted spot in said luggage.<\/p>\n<p>There is something about the last few days before starting out on a ship-side contract that normal shore-based people will never really understand. You don\u2019t sleep, you\u2019re restless, you\u2019re jumpy, you\u2019re even slightly paranoid \u2013 the constant wonder of \u201cdid I forget something etc etc\u201d\u2026.it\u2019s as though, even though you\u2019re still wherever it is you might be home-based, you\u2019re only half in your own life. The rest of you is already slipping into work-mode, mentally adjusting to the upcoming long hours and short sleeps, setting yourself back into the routine\u2026<\/p>\n<p>But whether I like it or not, whether I\u2019m sure of it or not, in approximately 72 hours it\u2019s gear up three greens and I\u2019ll be on my way to San Francisco\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Riding the tailwind\u2026always\u2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ready to leave, not ready to leave\u2026it\u2019s a tough call at this point.
