\"$(KGrHqFHJEYE88dN!SKyBPdVr(tpJg~~60_35\"<\/a>It\u2019s hard to believe that I\u2019ve already been here nearly two weeks. It\u2019s gone so<\/i> fast. Of course, that could be because of the new job duties, which keep my days so much busier that by the time you turn around twice your day is over.<\/p>\n

Things are definitely settling out though. IT has worked out the worst of the glitches and roadbumps in the new system, and that\u2019s making my life much easier. Slowly but surely the guests are starting to realize that there\u2019s only so much I can do as the front line person, and I\u2019m managing to find a bit of a better balance between the library (as in the books) and the computers. It\u2019s still going to be an even busier life than I\u2019ve been used to, but at least now I\u2019m not stressing out about it all as much as I was say\u2026.48 hours ago. Everything has ups and downs, and this waterlogged life of mine sometimes has more than most.<\/p>\n

Deep down I think a lot of my rollercoaster emotions the last few days have been simply because I miss the summer. I kind of feel like a little kid who had the best summer vacation ever<\/i> and is now suffering through the torment of the first few weeks back at school!<\/p>\n

But eventually I\u2019ll remember that I\u2019m a smart girl and I actually enjoy school \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

That said, I don\u2019t think I\u2019ll ever really get used to seeing lush tropical jungle outside my window on Boxing Day! The fact that I spend so much time in warm climates these days has apparently thinned my blood and I don\u2019t take the cold nearly as well as I used to, but that doesn\u2019t mean that my Canadian brain doesn\u2019t still rebel at the idea of a sunny Christmas. It just feels so strange!<\/p>\n

At long last it seems that I\u2019m sleeping at night again, perhaps my system has finally adjusted. Or at least started to.<\/p>\n

That said, I\u2019m still not getting off the ship much. I\u2019ve been to this area of the world before and I\u2019ve already added most of the requisite stickers to my suitcase and stamps to my passport. So I\u2019m trying to just relax and save my energy for the upcoming world cruise, which is barrelling down on us with the power of a speeding locomotive.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m still reading a lot. At the moment I have three books that I\u2019m half way through: The Sugar Queen<\/i> which is an old favourite that I\u2019m mostly just skipping through to my favourite parts of, The Kingmaker\u2019s Daughter<\/i>\u00a0 \u00a0– heavy duty historical fiction that sometimes I don\u2019t have the brain power to focus on, and Women in the Wild<\/i> which I keep at my desk in the office and which is having the effect of kind of making me want to add climbing mount Everest to my bucket list\u2026go figure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
