\"doctor_s_orders_1_\"<\/a>So, my morning routine was interrupted this morning by my unexpected encounter with the CMO (Crew Medical Officer), who I\u2019ve been friendly with since the beginning of the season but thankfully have rarely had to see on a professional basis except to pick up lonsenges for my throat a week or so ago. Since this nasty cold that I\u2019ve had has been clearing up on its own (albeit slowly) it just hasn\u2019t seemed necessary to pay her a visit.<\/p>\n

Until half-way through our morning chatter, I coughed. And it\u2019s that cough you get when the cold is losing its grip so it sounds really rattling and awful even though you feel fine\u2026<\/p>\n

And she stops immediately and looks at me<\/p>\n

You okay?<\/em><\/p>\n

Aw, it\u2019s just the tail end of that stupid cold, the cough is hanging on<\/em><\/p>\n

Lee, it\u2019s just a cold! It\u2019s clearing up!<\/em><\/p>\n

Do you want to get better faster or not?<\/em><\/p>\n

Yes\u2026I mean if you think it\u2019ll make it go away faster you can put me on them if you want..<\/em><\/p>\n

I do. Did you hear that cough? You come with me. Now.<\/em><\/p>\n

Keep in mind that at this point Medical wasn\u2019t even open for crew, and wouldn\u2019t be for another hour. In fact it wouldn\u2019t even be open for pax for another 10 minutes. That\u2019s how good our CMO is, she sees (or in this case hears) something that needs fixing, she just fixes it \u2013 no questions asked. Also, no choice given apparently \ud83d\ude09 So now I\u2019m on a week\u2019s worth of super-strength killer cold meds.<\/p>\n

I loathe being on meds, but hopefully she\u2019s right and this will kill the darn cough faster, as it is getting rather annoying\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
