\"dreamlike-reality-fantasy<\/a>It\u2019s rare that a whole crew meeting is ever called, but since we\u2019re transitioning into a new safety system it was eventually necessary to get us all into one place to tell us what on earth to expect. So the showroom was crammed full of half the crew, and that always takes a while to get settled down, so there was a lot of talking going on. During this, Amras turns to me and says casually:<\/p>\n

By the way, a bunch of us are talking about going to the movie tonight\u2026you coming?<\/em><\/p>\n

What\u2019s playing?<\/em><\/p>\n

Mali\u2026Malifi<\/em><\/p>\n

OMG! We got Maleficent???<\/em><\/p>\n

Yeah, that<\/em><\/p>\n

Oh we are so going.<\/em><\/p>\n

And he grins at me<\/p>\n

Figured you might say that.<\/em><\/p>\n

It\u2019s odd really, the things you are so used to being able to do at the drop of a hat on land that you just don\u2019t get out here. Like going to the movies. The little movie theatre on board is really very small and it\u2019s always a guest only priority so it\u2019s rare that crew bothers to even attempt to attend, but this was a showing in the actual theatre and they were running a later screening which meant the place was half empty.<\/p>\n

I have to say, I was really impressed with the film, it was pretty much everything I had hoped it would be, though I\u2019ll have to watch it again to catch some of the nuances. They did a really good job of staying true to the original while still making it a totally different story and while it was a wee bit predictable, it was at least predicable in the good<\/em> way. Sometimes it\u2019s nice to know that the right people are going to win. Oh, and they did do a good job of their research with fairy lore, something I had to explain in a low whisper to my big brother at one point<\/p>\n

She\u2019s a fairy<\/em>?<\/p>\n

Er, yeah, hence the wings<\/em><\/p>\n

But..?<\/em><\/p>\n

Fairy is \u2026a generic term, there are subspecies\u2026just like humans and races.<\/em><\/p>\n

Oooh<\/em><\/p>\n

And the popcorn was stale \u2013 as it almost is \u2013 and the screen they show the movies on in the main show lounge is only half-size, but none of that mattered. For just a little while we were all just normal people\u2026and out here that\u2019s as good as any fairy magic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
