Our house at Christmas is\u2026this house was made for Christmas. Granted, it takes a huge amount of work and at the end of it all my Mum is exhausted, there are a <em>lot<\/em> of decorations involved!<\/p>\n<p>One of which is, of course, the tree. 9 feet of glimmering family history; every ornament on that tree means something, is inherited from someone, or represents someone. We add people to it sparingly, and only twice have I ever seen \u201csomeone\u201d removed (in both cases the removal was completely justified). I\u2019ve only added someone once, perhaps twice. I can\u2019t imagine ever having a tree with a \u201ctheme\u201d or that looked all clean and commercial. Our tree is a mish-mashed and multi-coloured and\u2026stunning. Even if it is a little shorter than usual this year.<\/p>\n<p>Shopping has, as usual, proved to be both easier and harder than it should &#8211; some people are impossible to buy for, some are easy. As I explained to Amras earlier this season, Christmas gifts in my family have never ever been about money \u2013 nor will they ever be \u2013 they\u2019re about thought. It\u2019s not about what\u2019s under the tree, it\u2019s about who\u2019s around it.<\/p>\n<p>Wherever this holiday season finds you, whichever occasion you celebrate or don\u2019t celebrate, wherever your family, friend and loved ones may be located, I wish you \u2013 as always \u2013 the very very best of the season and all the joy the upcoming New Year can hold.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Christmas time is here Happiness and cheer Yuletide by the fireside And joyful memories there It feels so strange to be home for Christmas, and yet\u2026it feels like I always have been.
