A few months ago I blogged about the crew party during the world cruise<\/a>? One of the benefits of being on a ship that just topped the ratings lists, is that when they give you a reward party – they don’t relegate you to the mooring deck. At 9:15 last night, I closed down my library (45 minutes early), and – at my Event Manager’s behest, the solo guitarist and I cleared the upstairs lounge.<\/p>\n

“I’m sorry, but we have a private party coming in – we need to set up. No I’m sorry, the space won’t be open again until tomorrow’<\/em><\/p>\n

Or as the guitarist put it: “there’s just no nice way to put it folks, ya gotta get out”<\/em><\/p>\n

What we didn’t tell them – was that the private party was for us…<\/p>\n

They started wheeling in the luggage trolleys full of liquor while I was still on duty. Which made me laugh.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, we needed it. And it was a good night. And there’s something to be said for blowing your reputation as the quiet reserved one out of the water by walking into a crew party in your highest heels and shortest skirt and watching everyone try to figure out whether or not to say anything about the change..<\/p>\n
