How is it only Thursday? This week seems to have gone so quickly and yet dragged on so slowly that it\u2019s seeming like it\u2019s never going to end at all! Not that it\u2019s been bad \u2013 far from it really \u2013 just\u2026busy. So very very busy.<\/p>\n
The line is in the process of rolling out a new show, a BIG new show, and as a result there are more corporate representatives on board than you can shake a stick at. And when something this big is going on, the rest of us little people just jump at the big guys\u2019 commands.<\/p>\n
Because the new show involves almost every muso on board, Amras is in rehearsal almost all day every day. We see each other for meals \u2013 occasionally \u2013 and fit in the occasional (rather brutal) game of Call of Duty in between times, but between his schedule, the fact that I<\/em> have a corporate rep on board as well, and <\/em>the IPM schedule; there\u2019s been little time for socializing.<\/p>\n But at the very least, the show is going to be INCREDIBLE. We are all so excited.<\/p>\n Thankfully, even though the schedule is so crazy it\u2019s been colour coded (and changed at least three times in as many days) \u2013 I\u2019m still officially off work no later than 6pm every night; which means that the nights I go up to see the band, or out to dance, I\u2019m actually going because I *want* to, not because I *have* to, and when I\u2019m choosing not to go out (which is just as often) I\u2019m finally having time to re-read the epic fantasy series I\u2019ve been trying to finish since University. Not having to work around 10 hour days makes rather a difference in one\u2019s sanity, no matter how many suits are looking over your shoulder.<\/p>\n As far as Sitka itself goes \u2013 it is wonderful to be back here, if not well\u2026wet. Really wet. Alaska is, after all, the largest temperate rainforest in the Pacific Northwest and that means it rains. When Amras and I went out after general drill this morning \u2013 huddled under one rather pathetic umbrella \u2013 we barely made it to the coffee shop without getting drenched. But the nice thing is that Sitka hasn\u2019t changed, it still feels like it always has, the coffee is still yummy, and the bagels still have the perfect crunch. And if it had not been too rainy to brave the walk, I\u2019m sure the National Park would have the same lost-yourself-in-it quality I have always so treasured here.<\/p>\n Of course the rain has one downside, sloshing through it on the way home I managed to walk right into a several-inches deep puddle, with both feet of course\u2026at which point I stopped and simply said, in my most purposely childish voice because there is not a darn thing you can do about it at that point<\/p>\n \u201cWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!\u201d<\/p>\n And then proceeded to spend the rest of the walk home laughing about it\u2026it feels good to laugh.<\/p>\n But, I am glad that I bought new socks!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" How is it only Thursday?
