\"\"I was right, it is<\/em> strange. Incredibly strange. I am not used to being on a ship where I\u2019m not constantly on someone else\u2019s schedule and rarely having time to do anything except watch a lot of reruns. But this, this is different. No one telling me what to do, no one really caring<\/em> what I do. Eating when I want, wearing what I want. And being able to work on my writing on my laptop in the upstairs lounge while I\u2019m watching the sunset.<\/p>\n

As a result, I\u2019ve managed to get five pages written on my novella in the last twenty-four hours. To put this in perspective that\u2019s more than I\u2019ve written in one go on this particular piece in the last three years.<\/p>\n

Colour me amazed.<\/p>\n

Today is a sea day, so I spent most of it updating my computer games on my new laptop and seeing whether or not I could send my Mongol warriors successfully against China in Civilization 5 (much to my dismay the game keeps crashing, apparently a common problem, so I\u2019ve learned to save often). Yesterday I crawled my way through immigration (Which goes a lot<\/em> faster when you\u2019re in the passenger lineup!) and met up with Amras in Seattle to explore Pike\u2019s Street Market, with it\u2019s juggling stores and fortune tellers (apparently, I\u2019m going to come into an inheritance from a wealthy relative, not sure how that\u2019s going to work as I have no rich relatives to inherit anything from!) and rambling book stores (where I caved and picked up a copy of Fahrenheit 451 because as terrifying as that book is it feels like it\u2019s time for a re-read).<\/p>\n

So here I am\u2026Alaska bound again, in a rather different context than I ever thought I would be. So I wonder what the glaciers have in store for me this time\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
