I have almost <\/em>mastered the D-chord. And I\u2019m getting better and changing through the three chords I actually do know. Which of course prompted Amras to teach me two more\u2026A, and C, only one of which I currently remember<\/em>.<\/p>\n But the good news is my fingers are feeling better.<\/p>\n Slowly.<\/p>\n Okay so my left index is still complaining more than a little. But less than it was.<\/p>\n Of course there will be no more practicing for me this cruise, as tomorrow I\u2019m heading home and Amras heads off contract the day after, so the telecaster is already packed away ready to be trundled onto a plane on Sunday.<\/p>\n The trick is going to be continuing this when I get home. I\u2019m not the best in the world at practicing when I don\u2019t have a teacher there to watch over me. That said, Amras is planning to restring my guitar with strings that won\u2019t hurt my fingers as much as the current ones, and making sure that it is properly tuned. I do finally know how to tune it myself but considering a snapped a string the first time I attempted it? I\u2019m a little bit gunshy. So we\u2019ll see how that goes.<\/p>\n But hey, at the beginning of this week I didn\u2019t have any chords at all, now I have four. Still not with a great deal of ease and still without any grace whatsoever, but at least there<\/em>. That\u2019s something, that\u2019s a start.<\/p>\n I\u2019m cautiously pleased with myself.<\/p>\n But only cautiously\u2026<\/p>\n After all there is the more-than-slightly daunting task that will be required to even try to play lead one day: I have to re-learn how to read music.<\/p>\n Okay, breathe Shaughnessy, walk before you can run\u2026<\/p>\n Four chords are good\u2026for now, four chords are good..<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Progress report: I have almost mastered the D-chord.
