\"\"<\/a>It’s strange how quickly you get used to living out of a suitcase. You fly in, you check in, drop your bags, eat dinner on the company’s dime, and curl up in a bed not your own…these days when I sleep in my actual own bed it feels strange…partially of course, because it doesn’t move.<\/p>\n

It’s at this point that you realize you really could do with more than a 24 hour breather, but you take what you can get. Even if what you can get is one night where you can soak in a hot bath with a good book and curl up in a bed that’s actually a decent size…<\/p>\n

If there’s one thing that’s tough about this water-logged life of mine it’s the separation from the people I care about. Every time I get on a plane, it gets both easier and harder to leave.<\/p>\n

The number one question I get asked by passengers is how do you deal with it. How do you deal with the constant sense of semi-loneliness of not *really* being tied to anywhere. The answer is you’re tied to people. As I’ve said before, the longer you’re away, the more you realize how important the people really close to you are. The ones who stick with you. My Sister and I haven’t seen each other for a year and a half, but never a day goes by when I don’t consider her my sister. I have no idea when I’ll see Amras and Alasse again, but they remain my brother and my sister-in-law (they know this, they have no choice in the matter)…<\/p>\n

Your actual blood-relatives learn to understand. My own family has gotten used to living without me, which is a good thing, as I’m certainly old enough to be away from the nest \ud83d\ude09 But it’s challenging. You miss things. I’m probably away for Christmas again this year, for certain I’m away for my birthday…<\/p>\n

There’s romance and intrigue to the gypsy life, there’s also a lot of other things…<\/p>\n

one thing is for certain: being away from the people you love? Only makes you love them more…<\/p>\n
