Takes a while to find your feet. To figure out the feel of a new ship, of a new crowd, of a new set of people. Takes a while to stop being the new kid on the block.<\/p>\n
And when it does finally break through and start feeling normal, it happens suddenly. Suddenly you\u2019re feeling welcome at the family table at dinner, suddenly you\u2019re swapping Christmas movies with people. Suddenly you\u2019ve made friends with the people who handle your schedule and are horsing around in the office and the new<\/em> new kid on the block is looking at you all like you\u2019re crazy.<\/p>\n Suddenly you\u2019re sitting in the audience at the late night show and going \u201chey, I know those people\u2026\u201d. And you\u2019re getting invited to play card games in the officer\u2019s bar at night (though you find you\u2019re still too tired to actually do so).<\/p>\n Yeah, sometimes it just \u2026takes a while.<\/p>\n It helps also that Amras arrived day before yesterday (yaaaaay! Happy dance!), and I\u2019m always a little bit more social when I have someone to be social with<\/em>.
