\nSo here\u2019s the deal: I just got married.<\/p>\n

So I\u2019m a little busy. While I\u2019m not\u2026exactly<\/em>\u2026off grid (I mean, I check my email, I randomly post wedding photos on facebook etc\u2026obviously) I\u2019m..pretty much<\/em> off grid. The phones are on silent, and I\u2019m pretty much not answering them. For anyone.<\/p>\n

Amras and I have a very limited amount of time together before I have to jet off to Alaska until September. And there are things to do, and new ways of living and communicating to get used to and perhaps it\u2019s selfish, perhaps it\u2019s not, but I really don\u2019t want to give up a single day of that time, I actually don\u2019t want to give up a single moment<\/em> of that time. So I\u2019m being selfish. We<\/em> are being selfish.<\/p>\n

Amras and I have been friends for years, we\u2019ve been \u201ctogether\u201d for several years too (though not as many as we\u2019ve been friends) but this is the first time we\u2019ve been married<\/em>. And that, that takes a lot of getting used to, and also \u2013 for me at least at the moment \u2013 that really takes priority over pretty much everything else. There are new ways of looking at each other to adjust to, heck new nouns<\/em> \u2013 like \u2018husband\u2019 and \u2018wife\u2019 to get used to using, for me there\u2019s even a whole new name. And we only get this first little bit of time once, no matter what comes after, we only get this first magical piece of time once.<\/p>\n

The days I am not working (which are few) we are spending cooking, and curled up in front of the tv watching weird British Sci-Fi and listening to the \u201ccold Canadian wind\u201d batter against our windows. We are taking an absurd amount of joy in the fact that we *have* windows for that wind to batter against!<\/p>\n

And yet people keep asking me if I\u2019m okay\u2026<\/p>\n

Here is my answer to that: YES. Yes I am absolutely fine. There are moments where things are a little bit awkward, and moments when finding myself \u2013 rather suddenly it feels like \u2013 thrust into the role of being a full blown adult (yes, yes I know chronologically I\u2019ve been an adult for quite some time now, hopefully you all know what I mean)\u2026but I am\u2026definitely just fine. I\u2019m here. I\u2019m okay, I\u2019m more than okay<\/em>, and yes \u2013 whoever you are, wherever you are \u2013 I still love you.<\/p>\n

But I\u2019m a little preoccupied just now. So please, just now, just for this next little while, don\u2019t ask me to make plans \u2013 and if you do, please don\u2019t be offended if I end up backing out, or hedging on an answer. It\u2019s not personal, I will be back. You know me, I will always be back.<\/p>\n
