~ The Next Ten Minutes<\/em><\/p>\n

It\u2019s\u2026.been a long while since I\u2019ve written anything. To be honest, that\u2019s because I haven\u2019t felt like I have a great deal to write about. It\u2019s not that there hasn\u2019t been anything going on, it\u2019s that everything that was going on suddenly felt\u2026overwhelmingly insignificant. If that doesn\u2019t make any sense don\u2019t worry about it, I\u2019ve never claimed to be the most logical of people.<\/p>\n

There has been\u2026.a lot\u2026.<\/p>\n

So no, I\u2019m not dead! Just\u2026particularly quiet.<\/p>\n

For my birthday this year we escaped the craziness of preparing for visiting family (more on that later), to take a long overdue visit to the museum. \u201cSue\u201d the T-Rex is on display at our local museum until January, and for some reason that\u2019s all I wanted for my birthday: to go see the dinosaurs. AJ even had her own dinosaur dress (thank you Barbie fashion!).<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s just say I now know how an ant would feel. Or a very tiny mouse trying to hide from a very large cat. I have never seen anything so big<\/em> in all my life. And somehow it put everything in perspective. After all, we really are so very small. We are a tiny little blip in the infinite river of time. And in the face of all that, how big can all of our oh-so-big problems really be?<\/p>\n

As I get a little older, my birthday\u2019s have taken on a quieter turn as well. This past year has taught (and taken) so much that it\u2019s nearly impossible to list everything. But the lessons, at their heart, remain the same: no matter how hard things get, always remember the things that are really important, remember the people who love you, and remember that every day can be an adventure.<\/p>\n

Sometimes, it really is just about the next ten minutes.<\/p>\n
