Hello ladies… – Victoria – [05/15/2012]

Story Teller – Chris Omega

I have been told in the past that I am photogenic. I usually laugh this off and shake my head and give all credit where it is due – to the photographer. That said, the last time I did a proper ‘photoshoot’ outside of the context of a shipboard studio, was for my outdoor headshots well over a decade ago…I hadn’t really even toyed with the idea of doing anything…modelly…

But sometimes the universe drops what turns out to be an amazing opportunity in your lap.

A bit of background: years ago, when I was in high school I was obsessed (and I do mean obsessed) with the TV mystery/romance/drama Remington Steele. I wanted to be the main female lead, she was everything I figured I couldn’t ever achieve at the time: smart, independent, beautiful and just a touch (okay more than a touch) sassy. In one of the episodes they brought in this car…only this just wasn’t any car…this was a cream coloured 1935 Auburn Boattail Speedster

This was my dream car.

Now, there were only a few hundred of these cars ever even made originally, and even the replicas are scarce, still numbering in only the hundreds.

Imagine my surprise, and my delirium, when – fifteen or so years later – I found myself dressed in red satin, in the pouring sunlight of a perfect Victoria afternoon, in front of a house that looks like something out of a movie set…perched on the beautifully curved fender of a 1935 cream-coloured Auburn Boattail Speedster.

Ain’t life grand?

The car (and the house) belongs to a dear friend of my father, who was amazing enough to not only let me *see* it (and honestly I would have been perfectly content to just sit and stare at this car) but to spend two hours of his time shooting me with it…

There are by far worse ways to spend and afternoon than literally touching your childhood fantasy…

I just wish I’d had a fedora.

Bright Blessings
