Black & White – At Sea – [05/30/2012]

There are times when the job gets to be too much, when you’re so exhausted that you can’t see straight and every little thing seems to be about to reduce you into tears. When your roommate keeps you awake all night with snores that seem to rattle the very air (don’t laugh, until you’ve tried to sleep through something like that), and you’re living on coffee and pure nerve and determination…

It’s those times, that you look out the starboard window at the scenery that is slowly sliding by your little floating world…and you see a brilliant black and white flash above the still surface of the water, followed by a resounding crashing splash that you swear can be heard through the glass…and you realize for some reason you are crying, just a little bit, a little prickling at the corner of your eyes.

Thank you Alaska…the first orca sighting of the season couldn’t have come at a better time.
