At first we were all a bit leery when management announced a crew party the evening after we left Singapore, not to mention the day before a sea day. You see, they do random D&A tests on sea days and so going to a party the night before can be a bit of a risk…at least for some people.
But we all so needed the break.
Despite the fact that it was baking hot, and we were all exhausted from two days of traipsing around in Singapore, a surprising amount of people showed up to the outdoor Oasis deck.
Even though I don’t really drink beer, nights like this I carry order a bottle of Corona, because it just feels like one of those kinds of nights. But to be honest, it’s mostly a prop. I think I took about ten sips of it before losing it somewhere. Drinking is really not my thing. Dancing is another matter though.
Er…where’s Shaughnessy?
Over there…
Whoa…
So what, so I dance slightly differently than people expect me to, so what 😛 Blame Silver, she’s the one who taught me how to do it! (and she’ll take full credit). For some reason when we hold the crew parties outside instead of in the upstairs indoor lounge, people actually dance instead of just standing around bouncing. This is a difference that makes the outdoor parties much more fun. Also it helps that the DJ was playing a good mix last night, including a few insanely ridiculous ones, which are always good for making people double over in laughter.
Sitting on the edge of the dance floor with my friends from the cast, listening to the music thump and watching the lights flash, I had another one of those ‘yeah, this is a cool life’ moments…they get few and far between sometimes, when you’re far away from home and feeling the drag of being mid-contract, so you tend to take them where you can find them.
