Gremlins – Venice, Italy – [09/13/2013]

The simple tcomputer-frustrationruth is that I hate the fact that I am so dependent on my office computer. Of course, we won’t even go into the absolute life-line created by my personal laptop (which is more of an entertainment system than a data device) but my office computer is rather essential to the day to day completion of my job. When it decides to up and quit running – when the darn gremlins get their little hooks into it – then there’s not really much Shadow and I can do to keep the library running smoothly.

So this yesterday was our Venice embark day. I came home from that lovely lunch I had shore-side, rolled up my computer chair, booted the check-out system, and noticed a rather glaring omission.

No patron database.

Or rather, a patron database that says we have….600 people on board.

We have nearly 2000 guests on board…

Oh dear..
