Over the world lies a blanket of white
I woke up this morning to snow…
There are a lot of you that are probably going ‘so what, you’re Canadian’ – but you forget, I’m from the west coast. We don’t get snow, we get rain. I can’t actually recall the last time we had snow in December….
There is after all, a reason that at least one Christmas song says that ‘Christmas in the northwest is a gift God wrapped in green’
But mother nature, I swear, sometimes knows…
It’s not much, my friends back east will laugh, because they get feet of snow every year and have to dig out their cars to get to work. We don’t get that. When we do get snow, it’s like sugar icing, like the world is just giving us that little touch of white to make us remember what time of year it is. It’s just like our rain (we always say we keep just enough to keep the grass green and the cherry blossoms pink and then we send the rest to Seattle or Vancouver)…
Snow like this, it just…wakes you up. It doesn’t get in your way, it just…frosts the world. It clings to your eyelashes and your coat and your scarf as you walk to the mall to pick up Christmas cards and groceries. It barely even gets the roads wet…
This? This is the kind of snow you want to dance in….
Glad you got to see it before you shipped off to some warm tropical paradise again 🙂
