I promised an update – though I’m not certain how many readers I have at this early point in this blog’s live, so here we go.
Our captain came on with an announcement this morning stating categorically that our entire fleet is safe from any impact from the recent natural disaster, we are well out of the danger zones and in many cases the warnings have been lifted as of this morning. For me this means I can breathe a sigh of relief on multiple levels as it means that both my families (my real one, and my ship-board one, who are currently somewhere in the Caribbean), are safely out of harm’s way. One of the downsides of being from a coastal city is that when something like this happens all you can think of is that there’s nothing between your house and the tidal wave but a whole lot of water.
This contract has proved to be a difficult one as far as natural circumstances goes, first there was a hurricane in New Zealand, floods in Australia, then the quake in Christchurch, and now this.
So, while we are safe, I ask anyone who reads this to send their thoughts and prayers out to all those who are affected by these terrible goings on. We live in strange and confusing times, and even those of us who live in a floating bubble cannot help but be effect by it. We all live on a very small island that we can’t get off of, and it’s more vital than ever that we look after it, and after each other.
Bright blessings,
Namaste
