Plug me in, charge me up – Magala, Spain – [10/15/2013]

Sometimes I forgeplugmeint just how much I need the water.

I’ve been…drained lately. Certainly not unhappy – far from it, just pure exhausted. Crossings are a lot of work and they mean a lot of hours, which means that most afternoons find me curled up in bed somewhat dead to the world.  That was pretty much my plan for the day today as well, until my roomie came in and said there was a beach suitable for swimming about a five minute walk from the ship.

That…may do me some good.

It had been months since I’d been up to my neck in salt water. The Caribbean is coming, and that will mean I’ll be able to basically walk off the ship and into the ocean, but this for now was close enough. The water was cold – but I’m Canadian, and once I’ve been in the water for a little while the chill wears off. Water balances, water cleanses, water fixes. Every wave took away the tension in my shoulders, and all the little aches and pains (emotional and physical) that had built up over the course of the contract just…dissipated.

Yes please, I’ll take a battery recharge.
