Sleepy Starts – At Sea – [07/28/2014]

Al Moore. Pin-Up Girls. DO h. Pin-Up Girls-018Pretty much everyone who knows me knows that I’m so not a morning person. At least not usually. When I’m stressed I need sleep, and I can be a bear if I’ve not had my 8 hours, I am fully aware of this fact.

But the actual truth is that I quite like mornings, if I can ever get myself up in time to enjoy them (see it’s the getting started that’s the hard part). Early mornings in the office are often the most pleasant time of day, particularly when we had our weekly hour forward jump the night before so everyone is still asleep and adjusting to the time change. At that point it’s usually just me and the barista (who is really sweet this contract, I think she’s new), and a near empty room. It gives me a chance to actually get some reshelving done before the internet queries start pouring in just after nine, and it’s just so wonderfully beautifully quiet.

I even managed to finish the book I have been attempting to read for the last week, Lost Lake by Sarah Addison Allen. Until now every time I picked it up to read a page, suddenly a stream of people would come up with questions. I was starting to think the book was jinxed! But I managed to finish it this morning, and it ended the way I hoped it would, so that was a nice laid back start to my day.

I’m still making slow (very slow) but steady progress on my inventory. Even if I can just get things looking organized it will be a start. But this collection has been only partially monitored for so long it’s a difficult go of it. If I can finish even half of it before we head over to the more jam-packed European run in the fall I’ll be happy.
